Tameside College visit primary school for industry day
Wed, 24 February 2016
Tameside College had the pleasure of attending a special industry day at Canon Johnson Primary School to showcase the diverse courses that are on offer at the college.
The primary school had previously visited Tameside College for a tour, with school liaison staff and student ambassadors, to find out about different departments and facilities that are available.
Children took part in different workshops including: making spaghetti towers, play dough making, media make up, planting broad bean seeds and cupcake decorating; all from departments that they had visited on their tour of Tameside College the week before.
Nula Mathers, School liaison coordinator at Tameside College, said: “Workshops are interactive activities that students can try out so they have an idea of what they want to do when the time comes for college. We’ve had a great response today with children having a good time trying out different activities.”
Kirsty Pollard, Year 6 teacher at Canon Johnson Primary school, said: “It has been a wonderful morning and the children thoroughly enjoyed the activities.”
