The light vehicle maintenance and repair course is mainly aimed at switched on individuals who are looking to enter into the vehicle maintenance and repair sector. This highly paid skill is transferable, meaning that there is a wide ranging list of careers that this qualification is applicable to as an entry point.
A student will be gradually introduced to different skills by time served industry specialists. Students will initially start on small projects and gradually build their skills until they are ready to take on more challenging work and projects.
The Course runs from September to June for 35 weeks. There are nine units needed to be covered to achieve the qualification. Skills are taught during practical sessions in a simulated industry standard workshop environment and the knowledge or theory side is taught in mechanical themed learning spaces.

You will require a City and Guilds Level 1 or IMI Level 1 qualification in Light vehicle maintenance and Repair Principles, or Maths and English grade C/4.
Throughout the duration of this course, practical and theory aspects of the course are delivered. You will complete written and online assessments at the end of each unit to check you’ve learnt the appropriate knowledge. You will also be building up a portfolio of evidence of your practical tasks both written and electronic.
Performance is tracked and reviewed by mechanical tutors at specific points during the term. Satisfactory performance will be required in all aspects of the course for progression to Level 3. Progression is to a full time Level 3 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair principles or a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair principles.
