Uniformed Services (Vocational A Level)

This course is structured around four mandatory units and two optional units over a two year study programme. These units present an opportunity for the learner to gain an understanding of the uniformed public services sector, the opportunity to investigate career opportunities in the uniformed services, an understanding of the personal commitment and fitness requirements needed to be employed in a uniformed service role, an understanding of how uniformed services organisations respond in emergency situations, and the opportunity to understand and develop the skills and qualities needed to work in a range of uniformed services.
This course will be taught in a largely practical environment with an opportunity to develop skills in leadership, self-awareness, communication, planning, teamwork, confidence and decision making. The curriculum incorporates student visits and guest speakers including; the British Army, the RAF, Royal Navy & Royal Marines, North West Ambulance Service, Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service and Greater Manchester Police.
GCSE’s Grades 4-9 (including 1 grade 4 in English or Maths).
You will be assessed through a variety of assessment methods including discussions, displays, case studies, presentations, extended written work and practical assessments.

This is a graded course where you can achieve a Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction*
On successful completion of this qualification you can progress onto:

●  On completion of programme you will be able to access multiple HE degree courses.

●  Employment within different areas of the public sector (e.g. police, fire service, ambulance service and organisations that serve the public).

●  An Apprenticeship or degree level Apprenticeship
