The purpose of this qualification is to ensure that you are well prepared to progress into a career in business, finance or professional accountancy.
The AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting is an ideal starting point for anyone wishing to pursue a career in accountancy or finance. You will develop skills in double-entry bookkeeping and will understand how to use journals, control accounts and a trial balance.

You will also learn how to use an accounting software package, how to process financial information in accordance with company procedures and schedules, and how to provide information to colleagues, suppliers and/or customers.
There are no formal entry requirements for this course and it’s ideal for anyone wanting to gain an in-depth understanding of the accounting world – whether you’re just starting out or progressing from an AAT Access course. You will be assessed to check your foundational English and Mathematics skills and a short interview to check your interest and enthusiasm.
All units are assessed individually in end-of unit online assessments. The qualification also includes a synoptic assessment that students sit towards the end of the qualification. The synoptic assessment draws on and assesses knowledge and understanding from across the qualification:
The accountancy skills developed by studying this qualification will enable a student to seek employment with confidence and/or to progress to the next level of learning.

The finance, accountancy, business and communications skills developed in the AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting can lead to employment as:

●  an accounts administrator

●  an accounts assistant

●  an accounts payable clerk

●  a purchase/sales ledger clerk

●  a trainee accounting technician

●  a trainee finance assistant

The accountancy and finance knowledge developed in this qualification is also the underpinning knowledge needed for the higher-level accountancy and financial skills developed in the AAT Advanced and Professional Accounting Qualifications:

●  Level 3 AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting

●  Level 4 AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting

If you are aged 19-23, meet the unemployed criteria, or earn less than £23,104 annual gross salary, and already hold a qualification equivalent to 5 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, tuition fees will be waived.
If you are aged 19-23 and don’t meet the unemployed criteria, and already hold a qualification equivalent to 5 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, tuition fees are payable.
If you are aged 19-23 and do not already hold a qualification equivalent to 5 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, full fees are payable.
If you are aged 24+ and meet the unemployed criteria, or earn less than £23,104 annual gross salary, tuition fees will be waived.
If you are aged 24+ and don’t meet the unemployed criteria, or you earn more than £23,104 annual gross salary, tuition fees are payable.
